  • Killeen Civic and Conference Center 3601 South West South Young Drive Killeen, TX, 76542 United States (map)

Chuck Marohn will serve as keynote speaker at the 2016 Texas Downtown Development & Revitalization Conference, hosted by the Texas Downtown Association and the Texas Main Street Program. The Conference will offer practical solutions for downtown issues and give downtowners from across the state the chance to connect.

Keynote (8:30am-10am)

Chuck Marohn's keynote session will address the financial health of our places, considering questions like:

  • Why are our cities and towns so short of resources despite decades of robust growth?
  • Why do we struggle at the local level just to maintain our basic infrastructure?
  • What do we do now that the economy has changed so dramatically?

The answers lie in the way we have developed; the financial productivity of our places. Learn how to grow more resilient and obtain true prosperity for your town during changing times.

Breakout Session (10:30-11:30am)

Risky, low returning projects too often become expensive boondoggles that haunt a community for decades. Public officials everywhere are desperately seeking an alternative. In this presentation, Chuck Marohn will discuss how communities can grow stronger by making small, incremental investments over time instead of large expensive projects. By observing how neighbors live their lives, by asking what local businesses need in order to succeed, by getting out on the street and discovering what is actually going on, any local government can discern what their community’s pressing needs are. These projects are the high return investments and they are all around us. You can build a stronger, more resilient town for far less money than you think.
