The thing about the Strong Towns message is that it engages people. It provides a language for people to talk about the craziness around them in a way that is real and actionable.
One of the most common things that people tell me -- thank me for, actually -- is providing a language for them to use. I used to have a hard time explaining things to _________ until I started reading your stuff. Now they get it! That feedback means more to me than just about anything we do.
Of all the metrics that I see on a day-to-day basis, the one that astounds me -- continuously blows me away -- are the engagement levels. Facebook gives us the clearest insight. While we're still in the adolescent phase of growing our presence there, we are engaging nearly as many people, in raw numbers, as some organizations with a reach far greater than ours.
Now, just imagine an America where everyone has heard this message. Where everyone has been exposed to #DoTheMath and the power of chaotic but smart, people-scaled, incremental development. What would that be like?
Thanks to our members and generous donors, we're going to find out. I can hardly wait.
