Is growth the solution or the problem?

As Americans, we collectively seem to believe in the concept of "growth". We sometimes differ on the means to induce growth -- tax cuts, more spending or both -- but we're nearly universally disposed towards believing that we must have it. And we continue to do everything we can to obtain growth, even when the results of our actions turn out nothing like we predicted. Is it possible that growth, at least the pattern of growth we use here in the United States, is actually the problem instead of the solution? Could more growth in this same pattern simply dig the hole we need to climb out of that much deeper?

We start with this video from OMB Director Jack Lew.
