Transportation in the Next American City

With road maintenance liabilities overwhelming federal, state and local budget, America needs a more strategic approach to transportation , one that allows us to get more while spending less and living better. This workshop will challenge conventional thinking and chart a path to the next transportation revolution.

Strong Towns President, Charles Marohn, will cover a range of topics in transportation including the impact of transportation infrastructure on land use, strategies for making high ROI incremental investments, and how to retrofit stroads.

James Llamas will speak about a new approach to transit and Houston METRO Transit System Reimagining project, a blank-sheet redesign of the region’s bus network. A Senior Associate at Traffic Engineers, Inc. in Houston, James works primarily on the firm’s transit, street, sidewalk, and bike planning and engineering projects.
