Responding to Congestion with Complete Streets
Transportation will look different in the next version of the American city. Those places focused on fighting automobile congestion by traditional engineering methods will find themselves losing ground -- financially, economically and culturally -- to places that embrace a more complex understanding of mobility. This conversation will explore that complexity. It will touch on the many assumptions behind the auto-based development pattern, how those directly impact the financial resiliency of cities, towns and neighborhoods and how cities can expand their toolbox in an age of belt-tightening.
