Chuck Marohn will give a public presentation in Austin, hosted by the City of Austin, Planning & Zoning Department. This is part of a Strong Towns Texas tour, with several events throughout the state of Texas.
Mr. Marohn's talk is titled, "A False Prosperity: The Hidden Costs of Suburban Growth." This presentation will explain how the suburban development pattern has promised our communities wealth, but in the end, has left us with economic challenges and mounting debt. Mr. Marohn will discuss the relationship between transportation and household affordability, including the pitfalls of auto-oriented development, the transportation burden and how to build more economically productive and walkable neighborhoods.
This presentation is free and open to the public.
