Charles Marohn will be speaking at FEEcon in Atlanta as part of the event's "Urbanism, Development, & Your Neighborhood, Presented by Market Urbanism" track.
FEEcon is 2017's premier gathering of freedom lovers from all walks of life, with professional networking opportunities, inspiring panel discussions, and educational fun for everyone – all sponsored by the Foundation for Economic Education and held in vibrant and beautiful Atlanta, Georgia.
Wherever you live, your city uses regulations to restrict what can be built and for what purposes buildings can be used. FEEcon’s Urbanism, Development, & Your Neighborhood track is a joint effort by Market Urbanism and FEE to shed light on the vast spectrum of land use and transportation regulations that often diminish neighborhood communities, cause traffic congestion, and constrain housing supply to create affordable housing crises across the world. This track provides you with the intellectual tools you'll need to make a case for liberty in your own backyard.
Lightning Round: Decoding the Worst Urban Regulations (2:30pm)
Have you read your town's zoning code? Market Urbanists will save you the hassle as they decode the regulations that suck the vitality, vibrancy, and affordability out of your town.
The session will be led by Nolan Gray and feature Jonathan Coppage, Jeff Andrade-Fong, Sandy Ikeda, Emily Hamilton, Adam Hengels, Michael Lewyn, and Chuck Marohn.
Financial Realities Facing Cities, Towns and Neighborhoods (3:30pm)
Mr. Marohn will lead a break-out session to explain why our towns are going broke and how they can grow toward a stronger, more prosperous future. Marohn will discuss America's Suburban Experiment, the Growth Ponzi Scheme, the illusion of wealth, mechanisms of growth, and incremental and traditional development models.
