Chuck Marohn, founder and president of Strong Towns, will be joining the Manhattan Institute for a conversation to discuss his new book, Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity. Strong Towns is a grassroots movement dedicated to making communities across the United States financially strong and resilient. In his book, Marohn reveals why so many towns and cities across America are going broke, and how they can plan and build better so as to minimize risk, improve quality of life, and strengthen their neighborhoods.

Marohn will focus on America’s suburban experiment, which is dependent on what he terms the “growth Ponzi scheme” — the shiny, new infrastructure projects with long-term obligations that can only be paid for by yet more sprawling growth. He will discuss why cities should focus on financial stability rather than growth alone, as well as the importance of insisting that our cities and towns show a positive financial return.

This event will be followed by a book signing with the author. Books will be available for sale on site.
