Strong Towns President Chuck Marohn will deliver a presentation entitled Strong Victoria as part of the Strong America tour.
Strong Victoria is a solutions-orientated conversation about the biggest urban development challenges we face, taking an evidence-based approach on how our communities can be more economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. We'll discuss housing affordability, urban density, infrastructure, debt, social inclusion, building design and more.
Part 1 will be a 90-minute presentation from Chuck Marohn, President & Founder of Strong Towns, who joins us as part of his book tour for Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Rebuild American Prosperity.
Chuck will discuss historical development patterns in North America including the rise of suburban neighbourhoods and the impact this has had our cities and towns. Chuck will look at how our economic growth model has impacted our financial resilience, while drawing on lessons from across the world on how we can make happier, healthier, more resilient places to live.
Part 2 will be a 60-minute panel discussion, moderated by Mayor Lisa Helps with a diverse range of local experts, to debate our most pressing urban development challenges and ways to make Victoria and other BC communities stronger.
Also don't miss the opportunity to meet Chuck, pre-order his new book and pick-up a signed book plate, available after the panel discussion.
Finally, a post-event social will be held onsite at KWENCH from 9:00-11:00pm to mix, mingle, share ideas, and build connections. Everyone is welcome!
