Say Hello to Our New Staff Writer and Multimedia Creator!

The content we publish at Strong Towns is leading to real actions taken by members and allies to build stronger and more financially resilient cities. And though actions often do speak louder, the words and the ideas represented in our articles and podcasts have helped us reach 2 million people a year in this movement.

From the block level all the way to the halls of Congress, Strong Towns advocates are changing the conversation about how we build towns and cities. Literally every day we hear new stories about people who are putting the Strong Towns approach into action in their own place.

To serve this growing movement, we are proud to introduce the newest member of the Strong Towns staff: Seairra Sheppard (pronounced: See-Air-Ah Shep-Erd). Hailing from the great state of Illinois, Seairra brings a rich background as a freelance writer and videographer to our Content Staff. She’s shot footage for Floating Doctors, a nonprofit that provides medical care to the Ngäbe population in the Bocas del Toro region of Panamá, and she’s practiced her trade as a journalist writing for publications stateside.

As the Staff Writer/Multimedia Creator for Strong Towns, she’ll be sourcing and presenting the stories that inspire and motivate our work. We feel fortunate to have Seairra as a colleague. Will you help us welcome her to the Strong Towns team?

Seairra Sheppard, the new Strong Towns Staff Writer/Multimedia Creator.

Seairra Sheppard serves as the Staff Writer/Multimedia Creator for Strong Towns. As a journalist and videographer, she loves to capture ideas and share them through different mediums. Her experiences filming and writing around the world have given her a perspective on how people of different cities build their communities and thrive. She has a passion for walkability in towns, accessible recreation, fresh food availability, health, and sustainability. When Seairra isn’t focusing on how to make our cities stronger, you can find her outside working on a farm, writing her own stories, reading, or exploring the world on a hike.

Thanks to the support of our members, we’re able to expand our team in order to bring you exciting new content. Will you join the cause and help add to our capacity, so that the Strong Towns message can reach more cities and towns across North America?
