Hiring Process

We're looking for the person with the right set of skills and approach. As such, our hiring process focuses on skills and approach. We don't want to see your resume, or even know who you are, until we determine that your skills and approach might be a good fit for our team. Talent comes from many places, even those where we might not think to look, and so we've created a process that is broad, inclusive and as free of human bias as we can reasonably make possible. If you mail us your resume, or contact us with your credentials, you'll be signaling to us that you are not a good fit for the way we work. Beyond that, we encourage anyone with an interest in this position -- regardless of any other factor -- to apply.

We will be holding two (identical) online briefings for potential applicants to learn about the organization, this new position and the hiring process. The briefings will include a Q&A session. Applicants need not attend a briefing to apply. The briefings are scheduled for:

Applicant Briefing #1: Wednesday, October 12 at 8PM Central (sign up to attend)

Applicant Briefing #2: Thursday, October 13 at noon Central (sign up to attend)

Application Deadline: October 21

Round 1 is a questionnaire to examine how applicants would perform as part of the Strong Towns team. Applicants will be asked to perform a short series of tasks to simulate things they would do as a member of the team.

Selected applicants from Round 1 will be asked to compete another questionnaire in Round 2. This will examine work habits and preferences. We will request an online resume from individuals as part of the second round.

Round 2 Questionnaire Due: November 11

Selected applicants from Round 2 will be asked to do an interview either in person or by Skype.
