Lockport, Illinois is this year’s Strongest Town contest winner. In round after round, the city racked up many thousands of votes as it demonstrated—first in Q&A form, and later through photographs, in a podcast, and in a webcast—how it is becoming stronger and more resilient. From housing and walkability, to economic development and its response to the pandemic—we’ll be proud to point to Lockport for years to come as an inspiration for other towns and cities.

On May 20, Strong Towns president Chuck Marohn is traveling to Lockport to celebrate the winning city. Chuck will share a special message at City Hall. The presentation will cover the basics of what it means to be a Strong Town and a strategic approach toward becoming more prosperous and economically resilient.

Residents and community members are invited to attend the in-person event at City Hall. Space is limited to the first 75 guests to register online.
