The CNU Debates Return - Call for Contestants

On Friday, May 5 at 8:00 PM, Chuck Marohn of Strong Towns will once again be hosting the Congress for the New Urbanism NextGen Debates live from CNU 25 in Seattle. The event is open to the public and you don't need to be a CNU attendee to participate (more info here). We will attempt to livestream the debates on our site for those who can't make it.

The event is a mashup of Oxford-style debating and American Idol. First, each side will have two debaters that will give an opening argument. Then we'll have a Q&A session followed by a chance for each participant to offer a closing argument. Throughout the debate, our judges will give feedback and critique. Audience voting will determine the winning team.

Today, we're putting out a call for participants. If you would like to argue in favor or against on the following propositions, please fill out the form below.

Proposal #1: In 2017, the United States will benefit from a $1 trillion surge in infrastructure spending.

Proposal #2: Smart Growth is the same thing as New Urbanism and New Urbanism is the same thing as Smart Growth.
