It’s an exciting time at Strong Towns. Last week, we announced a new staff writer position (read all about that and apply here). Today, we’re announcing two more open positions: an Action Team Coordinator and a Video Content Creator.

Here’s some info on each:

Action Team Coordinator

The role of the Strong Towns Action Team is to take a deeper dive at the local level. The Action Team provides support to the Strong Towns membership with these critical conversations at the local level. As the name implies, these are the doers who are undertaking proactive conversations within their local community. We need someone to help these programs come to life, particularly new programs like our Community Action Lab and Crash Analysis Studio.

This could be you if:

  • You’re one of the most organized people you know. If a colleague mentions a task they need help on, you’re already writing it in your to-do list before they’ve even finished talking.

  • Your calendar is a well-oiled machine. You feel comfortable managing schedules and helping keep others on task

  • You don’t need to be in the spotlight all the time; you actually prefer working behind the scenes to help everything run smoothly.

  • You’re a patient communicator who’s adept at listening to and collaborating with different sorts of people.

  • You’re motivated to be part of a nonpartisan nonprofit that works across political, social, and cultural differences to help people make their cities and towns more economically resilient.

Learn more about the role and apply now. Applications due by Sunday, October 16.

We will hold a Q&A briefing to share more about the job and answer your questions on Monday, October 10, at 11 a.m. CT. Sign up to attend the briefing here.

Video Content Creator

Strong Towns is seeking a dynamic individual to lead our video production efforts, producing videos that amplify our message to reach new audiences on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and beyond.

This could be you if:

  • Coming up with creative film ideas is your bread and butter.

  • You’re confident planning, shooting, and editing video, and you’ve done it before.

  • Working independently doesn’t faze you, but you also know the value of collaborating with teammates.

  • You’re interested in transportation, urban planning, housing, and related issues. Maybe you even have some background knowledge on these topics already.

  • You’re comfortable on TikTok, YouTube, and other social film platforms.

  • You welcome an opportunity to communicate outside of traditional urbanist language and themes, communicating complex issues to a broad, diverse, and informed audience.

  • You’re motivated to be part of a nonpartisan nonprofit that helps people make their cities and towns more economically resilient.

Learn more about the role and apply now. Applications due by Sunday, October 16.

We will hold a Q&A briefing to share more about the job and answer your questions on Friday, October 7, at 3 p.m. CT. Sign up to attend the briefing here.

Both of these are fully remote positions open to anyone in the U.S. Our team collaborates digitally from locations around the country, and we get together 2–4 times per year for in-person staff retreats. We have content deadlines and occasional event-driven demands, but generally keep a flexible schedule.
