Submit your proposal for the Strong Towns Summit

We're busy preparing for the Strong Towns Summit which is just four months away. We'll have registration available soon. But in the meantime, we're inviting you to submit a proposal to present as part of the event, or to nominate someone else to present at the summit.

Submit a Prosposal

We have two opportunities for you to present as part of the Strong Towns Summit. For both of these opportunities, we may also invite participants to submit written versions of their presentations for publication on our website.

1. Lead a Workshop Session

During the morning of Friday, March 31, we'll host a series of hour-long small group workshops near our central event location and we invite you to lead one. We're aiming for a variety of mediums and topics here:

  • Maybe you want to walk us through a commercial street in Tulsa and talk about ideas for redesigning it to be more economically productive.
  • Maybe you want to sit down and talk hard details about how you changed zoning codes in your town...

Contributor, Andrew Price, presents during a pecha kucha session at the 2014 Strong Towns national gathering. See more pecha kucha presentations here.

We're open to any transportation-related workshop that would be of interest to the Strong Towns audience and would provide an opportunity for hands-on learning. If you'd like to do a workshop in a neighborhood, on the street, etc. we can get suggestions from our Tulsa-based members for good locations. We plan on having 4-6 workshops as part of the summit. Submit your prosposal below.

2. Do a Pecha Kucha Presentation

On the evening of Friday, March 31, we'll host a pecha kucha style, rapid-fire presentation session where each speaker (or group of speakers) will have the chance to share 20 slides with 20 seconds per slide (a total of 6 minutes, 40 seconds) to talk about a given topic (under the broad umbrella of transportation). We hope to feature 10-15 of these presentations at the summit. Submit your prosposal below.

The deadline to submit a proposal for both of these opportunities is January 16, 2017. We'll notify you in early February about whether you've been selected to participate. Please contact quednau@strongtowns.org with any questions.

Nominate a Speaker

We've got a great list of people we're inviting to present at the summit, but if you have an idea to share with us, we'd love to hear it. If there's a good speaker who could participate in a panel or give a talk on a transportation-related topic, please nominate him or her below.

The deadline to nominate someone as a speaker is December 23, 2016.

Thank you in advance for your interest in participating in the Strong Towns Summit!
