Charles Marohn, president of Strong Towns, was recently interviewed on Building Local Power, a podcast created by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR).

The episode is, "Want Your City to Prosper? Then Forget Everything You Think You Know about Economic Growth" and it focuses on why the conventional wisdom around development so often leads communities down a dark path of decay — hosted by ILSR co-director Stacy Mitchell.

You can listen or read the transcript here.

The Institute for Local Self-Reliance helps communities to design systems, policies and enterprises that meet local or regional needs; to maximize human, material, natural and financial resources; and to ensure that the benefits of these systems and resources accrue to all local citizens. We see a lot of overlap with this and the Strong Towns mission.

On a related note, we had the opportunity to interview Stacy Mitchell on our own podcast a couple years ago about her book, Big Box Swindle , so check that out if you're interested to learn more.
